Open Quote This school was once a great school, but is slowly turning into "the hood". Fights abound in the hallways and parking lots, a theft ring stole over 60 Ipads last year, leaving many parents with a hefty fine. The school bookkeeper told those of us impacted it could be paid in two payments of 260.00 each, or our kids would not have books. ( This is in violation of Texas State law) It's not uncommon to see kids walking the halls or milling around in front of attendance with family members "hanging out". The dress code obviously means nothing, as I've seen girls in mini-skirts, high heels, with tattoos showing, or kids with house shoes and warm-ups.

The administration is challenging, they can pass a buck better than anyone I've ever known, and if you have a real problem, issue or concern with your child better get ready to do a fair amount of phone tag and transfer. I once spent well over a week trying to get a simple issue settled. In all, I most likely spoke to six people who were all supposed to "handle" my issue. One son had a teacher with anger issues, who would go off on him when he did not understand Math. I ended up going to the school board, because no one would address my issue at Summitt. One would think he would be taken out of this class. Nope not at all. The teacher continued to work there, and my son was stuck in his class.

If your kids are AP students and high achievers academically, they will most likely avoid the "bad kids" and get a fairly decent education. ( This is from my former summitt high kid, who is now at UT.) If not, get far far away. It's not worth the high tax burden. Close Quote
