Summary

Colleyville Heritage High School in Colleyville, TX, is a large, well-regarded high school serving 1,837 students in grades 9-12 as part of the high-performing Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District (Isd), which ranks in the top 13% of all Texas school districts.

This school is a consistent 4-star institution, demonstrating sustained academic excellence over the past decade with exceptionally high graduation rates (consistently above 96%) and very low dropout rates. A standout strength is its exceptional performance in English Language Arts, with proficiency rates significantly higher than the state average and competitive with the district average. The school also excels in supporting Gifted and Talented students, ranking in the 92nd percentile statewide, and shows strong performance with Special Education students, ranking in the 82nd percentile. However, there is a notable weakness in Algebra I, where proficiency rates have lagged far behind the district average, suggesting a specific area for improvement rather than a school-wide issue. Compared to nearby schools, CHHS is part of a high-performing cluster that includes Grapevine High School and Carroll Senior High School, while schools from the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District (Isd) and Birdville Independent School District (Isd) show significantly lower test scores.

An interesting finding is the "Algebra I Anomaly," where the school excels in Biology, English, and U.S. History but struggles with Algebra I, often performing below the state average. While CHHS shows strong recent improvement for African American and Multi-racial students, it faces challenges in serving English Language Learner and Low Socio-Economic Status students effectively, indicating achievement gaps that need attention. Unlike some nearby schools that have experienced dramatic swings in ranking, CHHS has been a model of consistency, maintaining a 4-star rating and ranking in the 75th-86th percentile range for the last decade, providing a stable and reliable educational environment for families.

Open Quote The Grapevine Colleyville school district is the lowest paying district in the area. Their best teachers are leaving and they cannot afford to hire replacements that are on par. The entire district has been in academic decline for a decade…. while the district is spending more money than ever per student. Sadly, the money is not going to teachers or education but to waste.
