Summary

Crownover Middle in Corinth, TX, serves 891 students in grades 6-8 and is part of the Denton Independent School District (Isd).

Crownover’s standout feature is its exceptional Algebra I program, with 91% of 8th graders proficient—nearly double the district average and far above the state. This makes it a top choice for families seeking advanced math acceleration. The school also shows strong, consistent reading proficiency across all grades, with 8th graders scoring 15 points higher than the district average. However, standard math scores in 6th and 7th grade lag behind state averages, suggesting the strongest math students are channeled into advanced courses. Compared to nearby schools like Rodriguez Middle, McMath Middle, and Bettye Myers Middle, Crownover is a clear academic standout, ranking in the 75th percentile statewide while those peers sit in the bottom half. It also serves a more economically diverse population than nearby Harpool Middle, which has a lower free/reduced lunch rate and higher overall rankings.

Despite its strengths, Crownover faces challenges. Its overall state ranking has declined from the 92nd percentile a decade ago to the 75th percentile today. The school also struggles with its English Language Learner population, which ranks in the 30th percentile statewide—a significant drop from recent years. Additionally, while its Algebra I program excels, the school’s Gifted and Talented subgroup performs only at the 51st percentile, suggesting acceleration may be uneven across subjects. For parents, Crownover offers a strong foundation in reading and advanced math, but it’s worth investigating how the school supports all learners, especially those needing extra help.

Open Quote We transferred our two boys to Crownover Middle School last year and we couldn't be more pleased! They have SO much to offer and the administration, teachers, and staff are wonderful! The band program is outstanding, academic UIL is a priority, and we especially love the fact that if your child is ready to move on, they are tested and moved up to an "enhanced" class or even up to the next grade level in that particular subject. There is no such thing as "keeping students on the same level" or "only teaching the curriculum." If enrichment is needed, it is provided. We love that tennis counts as a PE credit and academic/social clubs are plentiful! They offer online registration, (occasional) flipped classrooms, and most importantly...teachers who INSPIRE!
