Summary

Brickey McCloud Elementary is a public elementary school in Knoxville, Tennessee, serving 859 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the Knox County school district, which is ranked 77 out of 139 districts in the state.

Brickey McCloud consistently outperforms the Knox County and Tennessee state averages in academic proficiency across all grade levels, particularly in 5th grade where over 50% of students are proficient in Math, English Language Arts, and Science. The school's strong performance extends to different student subgroups, with African American and Hispanic students exceeding their respective state averages. However, the school's performance for students with special needs and those from low socioeconomic backgrounds lags behind other subgroups and the overall school performance.

Compared to nearby schools, Brickey McCloud outperforms most, including Halls Elementary, Shannondale Elementary, and Copper Ridge Elementary. The nearby virtual school, Tennessee Virtual Academy, significantly underperforms Brickey McCloud and the surrounding district and state averages. While Brickey McCloud has maintained a strong academic performance, the school's increasing chronic absenteeism rates and the need to better support students with special needs and from low-income backgrounds present opportunities for further improvement.

Open Quote Brickey offers so much for the students. Most of the teachers are exceptional and the resources for the students are plentiful. The only downside is one of the office secretaries (mean!) and the fact that Brickey is always asking for money from parents. A few dollars here, a few there, it starts to add up. Close Quote
