Summary

Arts & College Preparatory Academy is a public charter high school serving grades 7-12 in Columbus, Ohio, with 461 students. The school is part of the Arts & College Preparatory Academy District, which is ranked 500 out of 828 districts in Ohio and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Arts & College Preparatory Academy has a 4-year graduation rate between 93-100% over the past 5 years, which is higher than the state average and on par with or better than many nearby schools, the school has seen a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, from 22.1% in 2020-2021 to 55.6% in 2024-2025. This is much higher than the state average and most nearby schools, such as Bexley High School (11.1%) and Eastmoor Academy (52.6%). The school also outperforms the state average in several subject areas, including American Government, American History, Biology, and English II, but struggles significantly in mathematics, with only 6.4-10% of 7th and 8th graders proficient or better in 2024-2025, compared to the state average of 47.6-50%.

Arts & College Preparatory Academy demonstrates a stark contrast in performance, excelling in some areas but struggling significantly in others. The school's proximity to several high-performing schools, such as Bexley High School, which consistently rank in the top 5% of Ohio high schools, highlights the potential for the school to learn from and emulate the practices of these successful neighboring schools. Additionally, the school's ability to support and elevate the performance of its male and low socioeconomic status student populations appears to be an area for improvement, especially in contrast to the school's success with its Hispanic and Special Education students.
