Open Quote My son has been bullied since the first week of school, two weeks after he was assaulted by another student. My son mentioned that there was a teacher present and witnessed the entire incident but didn't do anything about it she told the kids to go back to class as if this was a normal and tolerable behavior. Another two weeks went by, my son was finally doing a lot better with the students there, then another kid punched him in the back. This was my last straw, I had to pull him out of this school entirely and transferred him to a private school. The Administrators, front desk, Police Officer including the Vice Principle was very helpful but it didn't stop the bullying. I suggest that every kid who bullies another kid should have "Parental Counseling." Remember where the roots came from parents who lacks on discipline and being attentive to a child causes them to behave a certain way in a school environment, these parents should receive counseling by law. Open Quote I taught at James Martin for 13 years and saw more than 900 teachers come and go. This was due to a lack of discipline. Not one of the principals had what it took to get this school under control. Consequently, the turnover in principals was high as well. The principal in charge (2012) left as well and did nothing to improve the school. He was very rude, arrogant (his word), unprofessional, and ruled by intimidation. And once again, most of the teachers abandoned him. Tests scores for reading and math are still in the 40's and 50's. Close Quote

Open Quote We moved to Charlotte from out of State and this school is a rude and sad awakening. My daughter can not even learn at this school because the teachers can not get control of the students. Out of 4 classes in a day; 2 of them must have faculty standing outside the doors to try to attempt control; which there is none of. She says there has yet to be complete lessons because the kids will not repect the teachers. In the math class, kids are putting other kids in closets, and not allowing them out and laughing about it. She says the teachers give up and sit at there computers while the kids go wild.

Secondly there is no time between classes. You barely have time to get to class between bells, so when it is your elective class that is NOT in your grades hall; you are LUCKY not to be tardy. This is also not fair to girls, especially when it'e that time of the month. My kid has to wear a jacket around her waist for fear of blood leaking beacause she can not go to the bathroom at anytime of the school day. I find this horrible.(Sorry to be so descriptive; but the truth hurts). I think most girls here will end up with many UTI's just from being forced to hold it in.

Third, you have a uniform code for a reason and tell the boys to wear belts, yet I see there pants hanging half way down there butts still. Are you going to enforce this? What a joke. Close Quote

Open Quote James Martin isnt as bad as everyone says. This is my first year at James Martin, and I love it. I mean, sure we have lots of fights but its because some people don't know when to and not to speak the truth. Every schol has it's ups and downs. And sure our busses may have more drama than the school but its because studets have the ordasity to change their atitudes when they get on the bus because theres no teacher. But so what; James Martin is a great school. But the only reason the school gets bad reviews is because of the disrespectful students that act like they don't have any home training, but they know god and well that the way they act in school they don't act that way at home. Being that this is my first year I have alot to say but what i really want to put out is that James Martin is a great school with great smiling staff members(until you upset them) and some students that are willing to do what they need to in order to accomplish passing their EOG. So stop saying rude stuff about Jmaes Martin when you don't know anything about the school and all of its great accomplishments! Close Quote
