As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I Love this school!! My daughter is in the 5th grade and started here in the 1st. I hear from coworkers, other parents, and teachers from other schools about how great they've heard the school is. I have several friends that have applied and are on the waiting list, or have just gotten in and are impressed with the school as a whole. Tunbridge is the type of school community where, "everybody knows your kids name"...and not because they've gotten in trouble. They have tons of activities that foster parent and student participation..outside of the regular school assembly types we are used to. They have fishing trips, hiking, camping, Arts After Dark (sort of a talent show). They have teamed up with Govans Library, which is a short walk up York Rd., for story time and other activities that the students participate in during the school day, as well as after school closes. Everyone is friendly, the kids are upbeat and happy, the communication is always great, and there is nothing like seeing familiar faces as well as new faces when it comes to the school administration. I spoke to a friend, who was a teacher, has taught as two charter schools and is now a City school administrator (her daughter got into Tunbridge in the fall), to inquire about if the school is really as good as parents think it is from the curriculum standpoint....well she said ABSOLUTELY!!! She gave examples of the curriculum model regular Baltimore city schools us vs. what Tunbridge uses and highlighted what is good about it. I'm impressed, and happy my daughter was able to get in....she will be attending middle school at Tunbridge, which will open the door for her younger sisters to attend pre-K and up there. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
