Summary

Pitner Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Acworth, Georgia, serving grades PK-5 with a total enrollment of 790 students. The school is part of the Cobb County School District, which is ranked 54 out of 206 districts in Georgia and is rated 4 stars out of 5 by SchoolDigger.

While Pitner Elementary School has consistently ranked in the middle range of Georgia elementary schools, typically between 400-600 out of around 1,200-1,250 schools, its academic performance lags behind nearby schools like Acworth Intermediate, Blackwell Elementary, and Baker Elementary, which tend to have higher proficiency rates and better statewide rankings. Pitner's test scores on the Milestones Assessment are generally below the Cobb County and Georgia averages across all grade levels and subject areas, and the school has seen a significant increase in its free and reduced lunch rate, from 48.74% in 2022-2023 to 59.87% in 2023-2024, suggesting a higher proportion of economically disadvantaged students.

Despite the higher spending per student and a relatively low student-teacher ratio, Pitner Elementary School's academic performance still lags behind the nearby schools. This indicates that factors beyond just funding and staffing may be influencing the school's outcomes. However, the school's consistent 3-star rating and middle-range statewide ranking suggest that there may be opportunities for improvement with the right strategies and interventions.

Open Quote This is our 3rd year at Pitner. I have 1 daughter in the gifted program and 1 in special ed. I feel that they do try very hard to accommodate my daughter's needs. Dr. Hosey is a wonderful principal. All schools need parent involvement to be their best. I feel that is more of what this school needs. Close Quote
