Summary

St. Cloud Middle School is a public middle school serving around 1,200 students in grades 6-8 in Saint Cloud, Florida, which is part of the Osceola School District.

St. Cloud Middle School consistently outperforms the Osceola district and the state of Florida in various standardized test scores, with impressive proficiency rates in subjects like Algebra 1 EOC (79% vs. 53% for Osceola and 60% for Florida), Geometry EOC (94%), Biology 1 EOC (100%), and Civics EOC (74%). However, the school's chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 27.7% to 34.9%, is higher than the state average, which is an area of concern. Additionally, St. Cloud Middle School has a relatively high percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, ranging from 47.73% to 59.8%, suggesting a higher proportion of economically disadvantaged students.

When compared to other middle schools in the Osceola district, St. Cloud Middle School generally outperforms its peers in test scores, but it still lags behind the top-performing schools in the state, such as Sports Leadership Arts Management (SLAM) and Lake Nona Middle School, which are in the Orange County School District. Despite its strong academic performance, St. Cloud Middle School has maintained a consistent 3-star rating from SchoolDigger, indicating that there is still room for improvement to reach the highest levels of academic excellence.

Open Quote Best public middle school I have seen. Hands down better for my kids than any other one I have seen in FL or ANY State. Close Quote

Open Quote First year with a son in 6th grade. Car rider in the afternoon is a nightmare. Unorganized, no traffic coordination, Michigan Ave is at a standstill. I see 1 staff member in lot who lacks people skills and doesn't know what he is doing. I never see the staff smile or make an effort. Several other moms agree. I have also found the teachers to treat students as if they are in Kindergarten and not giving them the respect and confidence boost that is most needed at this age. Assigned seats for lunch is over kill. No lockers for the 25 lbs required binders/supplies for class and to be carried in a book bag to each class. Spanish class is not for the entire year and this information was not passed on in advance. One teacher told my son that everyone is guaranteed an "A" for the class as long as they are in the class. We came from Hickory Tree Elementary and it is apples and oranges. HTE was a fabulous, well put together school with outstanding staff, teachers and principle. (Mr. Knoble). Huge let down at SCMS.
