Summary

Pride Elementary School in Tampa, FL, is a high-performing K-5 school in the New Tampa area of Hillsborough County, serving 980 students with a strong track record of academic excellence. This school consistently ranks among the top 7% of elementary schools in Florida, currently placing 141st out of 2,240 statewide, and outperforms nearby competitors like Clark Elementary (ranked 332nd) and Hunter's Green Elementary (ranked 421st) in Hillsborough, as well as Pinecrest Academy Wesley Chapel (ranked 472nd) in Pasco County.

Pride Elementary is a true "math powerhouse," with 5th-grade math proficiency reaching 87% in the 2025-2026 school year—far exceeding the district average of 58% and state average of 62%. While its English Language Arts scores are also excellent, they show a slight dip in the most recent year (e.g., 3rd grade dropped from 85% to 78%), suggesting a potential area for focused attention. The school also boasts a low chronic absenteeism rate of 19.6%, well below the district (31.3%) and state (31.4%) averages, and a favorable student-to-teacher ratio of 15.9:1. Notably, Pride achieves these results with moderate per-student spending ($11,007), compared to Heritage Elementary, which spends $15,045 per student but has lower academic performance and higher economic disadvantage.

Pride Elementary's consistent excellence over nearly a decade makes it a reliable choice for families, with a ranking history that has remained in the top 10-12% of Florida elementary schools. The school serves a relatively affluent community, with only 21.94% of students qualifying for free or reduced lunch—the second-lowest rate among its peers, just behind Wiregrass Elementary (19.96%) in Pasco. This stability and strong school culture, rather than simply outspending neighbors, position Pride as a benchmark for academic achievement in the region.

Open Quote This school is good in general. I wish they had more arts and after school programs. Kids have many resources(online programs) to help. A lot of homework especially reading and writing. Their writing program in my opinion is advanced and my third grader has to complete lots of essays and book reports all throughout the year. I feel like I didn't even start that till middle school. They have P.E. twice a week, what ever happened to every day?! The school focus a lot on state wide testing. PTA is lacking in this school. Close Quote

Open Quote This school has exceeded my expectations. The staff & teachers are fun and creative and my child looks forward to learning. They are highly invested in helping each child become the best they can be. I've seen my child go from quiet and reserved to participating in activities outside his comfort level and finishing with a great sense of personal achievement. Part of the success of the school is the PTA which is filled with active, caring volunteers helping make Pride the best school around. This is not just a school it's a community filled with parents and teachers investing their time and energy into helping children grow in a positive manner. Close Quote

Open Quote Very dis-organized school. PTA is useless. Teachers/office staff are not very accommodating to pro-active parents. Never see the principle around school. Traffic is a nightmare-one way in and one way out for buses and parents. Close Quote
