Summary

Westchase Elementary School is a high-performing public school in Tampa, FL, serving 876 students in grades PK-5 within the Hillsborough district. This school consistently ranks among the top 6% of elementary schools in Florida, with a 5-star rating from SchoolDigger in seven of the last ten years. Its academic performance is exceptional: math proficiency averages 85.7% across grades 3-5, and English Language Arts proficiency averages 80%, both far exceeding district and state averages. The school also boasts a remarkably low chronic absenteeism rate of 16.3%, which is nearly half the district average and a key factor in its success.

Compared to nearby schools, Westchase stands out as a clear leader. Its closest competitor, Deer Park Elementary, also performs well but trails in overall rankings (82nd percentile vs. Westchase's 94th). Other nearby schools like Citrus Park Elementary and Bellamy Elementary rank much lower, despite spending more per student. For example, Citrus Park spends $15,180 per student but ranks in the 66th percentile, while Westchase spends a moderate $10,405 per student. This shows that Westchase's success is driven more by strong community support and effective leadership than by financial input alone.

Interestingly, Westchase outperforms local charter schools like Hillsborough Academy of Math and Science (51st percentile) and Henderson Hammock Charter School (24th percentile), reinforcing its status as a top choice for elementary education in the area. While Westchase has seen a slight dip from its peak ranking in 2020-2021, it remains an elite school with a strong track record. For parents seeking a school with high academic standards, low absenteeism, and a supportive community, Westchase Elementary is an outstanding option.

Open Quote Teachers are obsessed with sending negative cards and bad notes home. Only PTA parents and their children are welcome there. People from other countries are treated bad and referred by their background. Spoke about this even to principal about this and how they affect my daughter's self-esteem and nothing is done to improve this negative approach and focus on treating every student the same, Horrible and some meanest educators you will cross your path on the earth. They hide things that happen in school when someone pics on your child and PTA and teachers' children are given special treatments. Close Quote
