Summary

Holly Avenue Elementary is a highly-regarded K-5 public school serving 789 students in the Arcadia Unified School District, consistently ranking among the top 10% of all California elementary schools.

What truly sets Holly Avenue apart is its exceptional ability to support all students to high achievement, especially those who may face additional challenges. The school serves a student population with a higher level of economic need than other Arcadia Unified schools like Camino Grove Elementary and Longley Way Elementary, yet it achieves comparable top-tier test scores. It is particularly effective with English Language Learners, ranking in the 99th percentile for that group statewide, and has made a dramatic improvement in student attendance, reducing chronic absenteeism to less than 1%.

When compared to nearby schools in other districts, such as those in Temple City Unified or Pasadena Unified, Holly Avenue's academic performance is notably stronger. The school achieves these excellent results efficiently, with per-student spending and class sizes similar to its peers. While there is a slight performance dip in 5th grade and a gap between female and male student rankings, the school's overall record is one of remarkable and stable success in creating a high-achieving learning environment for a diverse community.

Open Quote Arcadia School District is one of the best school districts in Los Angeles County including the San Gabriel Valley. Great schools with wonderful programs with the exception of Holly Ave. This school unfortunately is not serious about implementing programs that extracurricular that build student interest and esteem. These programs are vital for a child's learning experience,or at least the opportunity to participate in one.The principal likes book smart students and parents that keep their mouth shut, anything other than the later and your on her radar. There is no creative learning or the sort. No emphasis on individual learning styles, or focus on students talents and gifts-just a cookie cutter mentality. Its so much easier and less work for the principle and her staff. Close Quote
