Summary

SOAR High (Students On Academic Rise) is a standout public high school (grades 9-12) serving 670 students in Lancaster, CA, and is a top-performing academic beacon within the generally lower-ranked Antelope Valley Union High district.

The school's performance is exceptional, ranking 130th in the state with 83% of students proficient in English and 53% in Math—figures that are more than double the district averages and far surpass nearby schools like Quartz Hill High. Perhaps most impressively, SOAR High maintains a near-perfect 100% graduation rate and a 0% dropout rate, a stark contrast to other local schools such as Desert Winds Continuation High, and has a chronic absenteeism rate of just 3.4%, which is a fraction of the district's rate.

This success is consistent and extends to all student groups, with the school achieving top state rankings for its students from various backgrounds, all while operating efficiently with moderate per-student spending. Its sustained excellence over more than a decade within a challenging district makes it a powerful example of what is achievable in public education, outperforming not only traditional district schools but also local charter options like Mission Academy.

Open Quote I love SOAR. I've never been happier at school.
First off, I look forward to school, well, I mean, waking up is never fun, but once I get there it is! The teachers are all so nice and supportive! The only tricky part is that you have to try hard to succeed. But it's not like you're throwing your life away to academics, you're just putting in a little more time. If you're looking for support and preparation, and fun, SOAR is for you! Close Quote

Open Quote While SOAR is still quite a "young" school, the students in this area finally have an option to help them seek out a brighter future. SOAR is primarily geared toward students who intend to pursue math & science careers, however students with nearly any interest can find their place at SOAR. The biggest disappointment about SOAR is the lack of sports and other extra curricular activities that a conventional high school environment might offer. In the end, the pros far outweigh the cons and the education available to students at SOAR is far superior to that at any other schools in the area. Close Quote

Open Quote SOAR High School is an excellent school. Not because the teacher are great and or the student are smart it just our own willness to learn and our desire to succeed in life. SOAR is an execellent opportunity to go to college and meet new people. You dont have to be the smartest kid on the block but if you have the spark to learn then SOAR will make your fire burn brightly. Close Quote
