Summary

Augusta Ranch Elementary is a public elementary school in Mesa, Arizona, serving 944 students in grades PK-6 and part of the Gilbert Unified District. The school has consistently ranked in the top 30% of Arizona elementary schools, with strong academic performance, particularly in English Language Arts.

Augusta Ranch Elementary's students perform above the state and district averages on assessments like AASA and AzSCI. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, 51% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in AASA English Language Arts, compared to the state average of 36% and the district average of 54%. The school also has strong performance among certain student subgroups, such as African American students and Homeless students, ranking in the top 10% and top 5% of Arizona elementary schools, respectively, in these categories.

While Augusta Ranch Elementary generally outperforms nearby schools in the Gilbert Unified District, it faces some emerging challenges. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch has increased, and the school has seen a decrease in per-student spending and an increase in student-teacher ratios. These factors may impact the school's ability to provide the necessary resources and support to meet the diverse needs of its growing population of students from lower-income families. However, the school's strong performance for students from low socioeconomic backgrounds suggests it is well-equipped to address these challenges and continue its tradition of academic excellence.

Open Quote The Principal is amazing! If you have a strong, caring, and innovating leadership like her the entire school benefits and excels. All the teachers we have had are extraordinary. Good communication is easy to have about grades, missing assignments, social/emotional issues, health concerns, and about anything else. We had some social issues and the teachers took it seriously and helped everyone grow from the experience. In the last several years they added the accelerated program, implemented a new math curriculum, upgraded the bathrooms and drinking fountains, soccer nets, volleyball, and added privacy screens to the kindergarten playground to name a few. They encourage parent involvement by having Grandparents day, PE Parent Day, and so much more. Overall school is wonderful! Many leave to charter schools and then come back. Close Quote

Open Quote We moved in the summer of. 2024. My son entering the 5th grade at Augusta Ranch was excited to be starting this school as we have heard good things. I noticed a big improvement in his mood and he has friends that he gets to play with daily. The teachers here really do care about the students and are active in every way in trying to make it even better. We really like this school and felt supported. Close Quote
