Summary

Kingswood Elementary School is a public school located in Surprise, Arizona, serving grades PK-8 with a total enrollment of 798 students. It is part of the Dysart Unified District, which is ranked 132 out of 289 districts in Arizona and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Kingswood Elementary generally performs below the district and state averages in proficiency rates for AASA English Language Arts and Mathematics assessments, the school stands out in its performance for English Language Learner (ELL) students, ranking in the top 5% of Arizona elementary schools for ELL student proficiency in 2022-2023. Kingswood also performs relatively well for Hispanic students, ranking in the top 25% of Arizona elementary schools for Hispanic student proficiency in English Language Arts and Mathematics. However, the school has seen a higher dropout rate compared to the state average, ranging from 5.2% to 9.6% over the past few years.

Compared to nearby schools like Marley Park Elementary, Canyon Ridge School, and Freedom Traditional Academy, Kingswood Elementary performs below them in terms of overall academic achievement and state rankings. Nonetheless, Kingswood outperforms the nearby Ashton Ranch Middle School and Countryside Elementary School in several academic areas. The school's higher per-student spending of $10,636 in 2021-2022 may contribute to its relatively strong performance for certain student subgroups, but the significant increase in the percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, from 29.44% in 2021-2022 to 58.91% in 2022-2023, suggests that Kingswood is serving a more economically disadvantaged population, which may impact academic outcomes.

Open Quote Not super thrilled with certain things or people in the school and if it wasn't for a few really awesome teachers I would REALLY dislike this school. Ms. Hughes and Mrs. Morgan are some seriously GREAT teachers! Pick up and drop off is a zoo due to some stupid parents who apparently think they are busier/or more important than anyone else. While the school nurse is typically easy to get along with, my son had gotten sick recently and went to see her only to be sent back to class to be miserable the rest of the day. You could tell he was not well just looking at him and had she only taken the few seconds to take his temp she would have seen it was up since by the time I got him it was over 103!

If you move here and find yourself putting your children in this school I hope you get these awesome teachers. Close Quote
