Summary:
Guernsey, Wyoming, has three schools serving kindergarten through grade 12: Guernsey-Sunrise Elementary (K–6, 96 students), Guernsey-Sunrise Junior High (grades 7–8, 35 students), and Guernsey-Sunrise High School (grades 9–12, 59 students). The most consistent current-year performance relative to state benchmarks is at Junior High, whose ELA and math results are closest overall to state levels.
Junior High stands out at the top: its two-grade ELA average was 56.1% versus 58.7% statewide, and its math average was 49.6% versus 53.4%; across both subjects, its four results averaged 52.6% compared with 53.2% for the state. Elementary has the widest spread and the most pronounced low results, averaging 42.6% in ELA against 58.2% statewide and 39.5% in math against 60.4%. Grade 3 math was 16.7% versus 61.2%, while grade 6 ELA was 26.7% versus 60.8%. High School is mixed: grade 10 math exceeded the state, 50% to 45%, but grade 9 ELA was 21.4% versus 55.6%. Its 84.2% graduation rate was slightly above the state’s 83.1%.
ELA and math averages improved relative to the state from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, while science results moved farther behind: matched-grade gaps narrowed by about 10.4 points in ELA and 3.8 in math, but widened by 9.6 in science. SchoolDigger’s percentile rankings also rose at Junior High, from 5 in 2023–2024 to 30 in 2025–2026, and at High School, from 14 to 21; Elementary was 13 in both endpoint years after dipping to 5. Reported free/reduced-lunch eligibility was similar across schools, from 57.1% to 59.4%; student-teacher ratios ranged from 6.9 at High School to 8.7 at Elementary. Because schools serve different grade bands and enrollments are small, same-grade state comparisons are more informative than direct school-to-school rankings.
