Summary

Paw Paw High School is a small public high school serving grades 7-12 in Paw Paw, West Virginia, with a total enrollment of 77 students. The school is part of the Morgan County Schools district, which is ranked 33 out of 55 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Paw Paw High School has experienced significant fluctuations in its statewide ranking, ranging from a high of 16th out of 122 schools in 2016-2017 to a low of 111th out of 111 schools in the most recent 2024-2025 school year. The school's performance on state assessments has been mixed, with 11th-grade students performing significantly below the state and district averages in mathematics, English Language Arts, and science. Despite the school's fluctuating performance, Paw Paw High School has maintained relatively high four-year graduation rates, comparable to the nearby schools. The school's student population is predominantly white, and the performance of different student subgroups has been uneven, suggesting the need for a closer examination of the school's instructional practices and support systems to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. As a small school, Paw Paw High School may face unique challenges in terms of staffing, course offerings, and access to resources, which could contribute to the instability in its academic achievements.

Open Quote My children are enrolled at Paw Paw Schools. I have a fifteen-year old that is graduating this year, a fourteen-year old that is in the ninth grade and a ten-year old in the fourth grade. The staff/teachers promote hard work and determination. As evidenced by their West Test scores, it pays off. I have seen, time and time again, people share negative opinions about our school including the size, voting to shut it down and bus the students to Berkeley Springs, etc., but I feel that my children are exactly where they need to be. All three of my kids are honor-roll students and do very well on state testing. Close Quote
