For parents, the standout schools are Pleasant Valley Elementary School and White Hall Elementary School, both earning 5-star ratings with math proficiency near 76-79%—nearly double the district average of 41%. East Fairmont High School leads the high schools with a 96% graduation rate and a top-10 statewide ranking. On the other end, Watson Elementary School ranks 332nd of 355 elementary schools with just 29% math proficiency, while North Marion High School has dropped to 66th statewide with only 12.3% math proficiency. East Dale Elementary School is the most improved, jumping 62 spots to 59th statewide.

A key pattern is the "middle school slide"—several schools like Barrackville Elementary/Middle School and Rivesville Elementary/Middle School show strong early grades, a dip in 4th-5th grade, then recovery by 7th-8th grade. High schools consistently struggle with math—ELA proficiency (47-61%) far exceeds math (12-28%) across all three high schools. Smaller schools tend to outperform larger ones, with Fairview Middle School (154 students) and Pleasant Valley (179 students) achieving top results.
