Summary

Superior High is a public high school in Superior, Wisconsin, serving 1,290 students in grades 9-12. The school is part of the Superior School District, which is ranked 245 out of 426 school districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Superior High's performance has been mixed compared to the state average. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates in social studies (52%), English language arts (53.13%), and science (41.32%) were higher than the state averages, but its math proficiency (40%) was lower. Compared to the nearby Northwestern High School, Superior High's academic performance is generally lower. Superior High has also experienced fluctuations in its graduation rate, ranging from 90.4% to 97.7%, and its dropout rate, from 0.4% to 1.3% in recent years.

One area of concern at Superior High is the high rate of chronic absenteeism, ranging from 12.6% to 20.8% in recent years, which is higher than the 17.7% rate at Northwestern High. The school serves a diverse student population, with significant representation of Hispanic, Native American, and multi-racial students. While Hispanic students have performed relatively well, multi-racial students have struggled. Additionally, the school's higher proportion of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and lower per-student spending compared to Northwestern High may contribute to the overall performance challenges.

Open Quote My son attended this high school, within his first week he was assaulted and not only was there no disciplinary action taken on the two students that assaulted my son but they threatened my son for expulsion. My son was in honors for all of his academics until he got here were his gpa went from 3.7 to 1.4 due to teachers not fully understanding their students. After the first year I made him go to online school and his grades went up drastically. If you are to send your children here be prepared for poor grades, awful teachers, and high drug rate.
