Summary

Harborside Academy is a public charter high school serving grades 6-12 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, part of the Kenosha School District. With 611 students, Harborside Academy has been ranked between 230 and 343 out of Wisconsin high schools over the past 10 years, with a 1-2 star rating from SchoolDigger.

Harborside Academy outperforms the Kenosha School District and the state of Wisconsin in several academic areas, including English Language Arts proficiency for 6th-8th grade students, Mathematics proficiency for 7th grade students, and Social Studies proficiency for 10th grade students. However, the school lags behind the district and state in Mathematics proficiency for 6th, 8th, and 10th grade students. Harborside Academy maintains a relatively high 4-year graduation rate, ranging from 87.7% to 97.8%, and a low dropout rate of 0.1% to 1.5%.

The school's performance is particularly strong for its Hispanic and Special Education student populations, ranking in the top 50 and top 40 schools in the state, respectively, for these subgroups. Compared to nearby schools, Harborside Academy performs better than Reuther Central High and Bradford High in academic areas like English Language Arts and Social Studies proficiency, but lags behind the highly-ranked Lakeview Technology Academy, also part of the Kenosha School District, in several metrics. The school's relatively high chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 17.1% to 29.5%, is a concern that may be impacting overall student performance.

Open Quote There is a terrible discipline problem here. But possibly worse is the terrible quality of education. One example of many is its Algebra 2/Trig-Honors class. The class is still doing work from quarter two (academic courses are all year round), and they won't be touching trig at all. They also attempt to grade students character. However judging by the number of dress code violations, rampant disrespect shown for teachers, bullying, and drug use,it's apparent that the character grades are just a joke. This school may boast about a high number of students going on to college, but I'd be interested to see how many of those students drop out. Close Quote
