Elkhorn Options Virtual School is a public PK–12 virtual and alternative school in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, serving 335 students — the largest enrollment among its peer alternative schools — as part of the Elkhorn Area School District, a 4-star district ranked 122nd of 432 in the state.

Its biggest strengths are reading and science. On the 2025-26 Forward Exam, grades 3–8 averaged 82.1% proficient in English language arts, compared with 64.4% for the district and 54.0% statewide, and it beat its district in every ELA grade. Eighth-grade science reached 81.25%, versus 51.3% in the district. Chronic absenteeism is a striking 0.3% in 2024-25, far below the state's 17.3%, JEDI Virtual K-12's 10.9%, and Burlington Alternative School's 48.8%. On 10th-grade ACT, Elkhorn's math (44.44%) was more than triple JEDI Virtual K-12's and Wisconsin Connect Charter School's 14.29%, while Burlington Alternative School reported 0%.

More concerning, the graduation rate slid from 97.8% in 2020-21 to 82.6% in 2024-25 while the district stayed near 93.8%, and dropout was 2.7% in 2024-25 — about 2.5 times the state rate. Small class sizes mean single-grade results swing widely. Spending is $10,730 per student. Overall, the school outperforms its alternative-school peers and the state in most areas, with graduation and dropout the trends to watch.
