Three Lakes School District

Three Lakes School District is a small Wisconsin district with four schools serving about 500 students across PK–12, including two elementary schools, one junior high, and one high school. Three Lakes Elementary has 160 students in PK–6, Sugar Camp Elementary has 111 students in PK–6, Three Lakes Junior High has 73 students in grades 7–8, and Three Lakes High has 156 students in grades 9–12. The district ranks 58th of 432 Wisconsin districts, in the 87th percentile with 4 stars.

Three Lakes Junior High is the academic standout: it ranks 39th of 643 middle schools, in the 94th percentile, and is the district’s only 5-star school. Its 2025–26 test scores are well above state in ELA, math, social studies, and science, and its dropout rate is 0.0%. Three Lakes High is the most improved, rising from the 26th percentile in 2023–24 to the 75th percentile in 2025–26; its graduation rate is 95.1%, its dropout rate is 0.6%, and it scores above state in ACT Math, ACT Science, and Social Studies, though ACT ELA is 46.43 versus the state’s 48.47. Sugar Camp Elementary stands out for attendance and equity: chronic absenteeism is 6.4%, far below district and state, and free/reduced lunch is 22.52%. Three Lakes Elementary is also strong, ranking in the 80th percentile, with especially high grade 4 results but the highest student-teacher ratio at 14.4.

Across the district, all four schools rank at or above the 75th percentile, and grade 4 is a major strength at both elementaries.
