Summary:

Mineral Point Unified School District in southwestern Wisconsin serves roughly 800 students across three schools — Mineral Point Elementary (PK–5, 377 students), Mineral Point Middle (6–8, 170 students), and Mineral Point High (9–12, 253 students). The district overall is rated 131st of 432 Wisconsin districts, at the 70th percentile with 4 stars, but school-level results are uneven: the high school sits at the 79th percentile with 4 stars, while the elementary (67th percentile) and middle (58th percentile) each carry 3 stars.

Mineral Point High is the standout, largely on the strength of a dramatic ACT rebound. Its 2025-2026 ACT proficiency is well above state in English Language Arts (58.33% vs. 48.47%), Mathematics (61.67% vs. 42.93%), and Science (63.33% vs. 43.20%) — a reversal from 2024-2025, when it trailed the state in all three. Graduation is 98.4% vs. the state's 92.0% and dropout is 0.4% vs. 1.1%, though 10th-grade Social Studies fell to 44.62%, below the state's 48.25%. Mineral Point Elementary is the academic engine, with 2025-2026 science at 68.18% vs. 53.46% state and social studies at 78.79% vs. 65.51% state, and most tested areas above state even after a softer year. Mineral Point Middle is the main area to watch: its rank percentile slipped 73 → 69 → 58 and stars 4 → 3 → 3, and 6th-grade math (50.00%) came in below the state's 53.60%, while 8th-grade science (51.72%) was essentially even with state (51.86%).

Attendance and resources round out the picture. Chronic absenteeism is low district-wide — 6.5% at the elementary, 6.0% at the high school, and 14.3% at the middle — all below the state's 17.3%, though the middle school is the clear outlier and also has the highest free/reduced lunch rate (27.65%). Per-student spending rises by level: $15,458 at the elementary, $16,403 at the middle, and $18,704 at the high school. Because the middle and high schools enroll only 170 and 253 students, a single cohort can swing percentages noticeably, so year-to-year changes should be read with caution.
