The Baraboo School District serves about 2,467 students across seven schools in Baraboo, Wisconsin: five elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. Enrollment is concentrated at the secondary level, with Baraboo High at 885 students and Jack Young Middle at 548 — together roughly 58% of the district. The district's overall rating is 2 stars, 35th percentile (282 of 432 districts), but individual schools range widely, from 1-star to 3-star ratings in 2025-2026.

Willson Elementary is the strongest performer: 3 stars in all three years, 63rd percentile in 2025-2026, and above both state and district averages in all eight reported elementary tests. East Elementary shows the clearest improvement, rising from 37th to 52nd percentile and lifting 5th grade math proficiency from 31.03% to 57.63%, all while spending the least per student ($13,913). Baraboo High jumped from 1 star to 3 stars and improved in every reported subject, but its chronic absenteeism of 25.6% is well above the district's 19.5% and the state's 17.3%.

Al Behrman Elementary is the lowest-ranked school at 29th percentile, 1 star, with only 3rd grade ELA above the state average — despite the highest K-5 spending at $16,473.
