Alma School District is a small Wisconsin district with two schools—Alma Elementary (PK–8, 184 students) and Alma High (9–12, 80 students)—serving 264 students in Alma, WI. The district is rated 39th percentile/2 stars, but in 2025–26 Alma Elementary is 64th percentile/3 stars and Alma High is 47th percentile/2 stars, so school-level results matter more than the district rating alone.
Alma Elementary is the academic standout. Its chronic absenteeism is 6.7%, far below the district’s 10.7% and the state’s 17.3%. Chronic absenteeism is 19.0%, above the state’s 17.3% and nearly double the district’s 10.7%, and the dropout rate is 1.2% vs. 0.8% district and 1.1% state. The high school spends $17,870 per student vs. $14,210 at the elementary school, with a lower student-teacher ratio (11.8 vs. 13.3), yet its ACT math/science trail state. Free/reduced lunch is nearly identical (33.75% vs. 33.7%). Overall, the district has a strong elementary school, a high school with excellent graduation and improving social studies, and clear needs in high school ACT math/science and absenteeism.
