Summary

Wenatchee High School is a large public school serving grades 9–12 in the Wenatchee area, with 2,066 students and an economically diverse enrollment in the Wenatchee School District. About 61.08% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The school ranks in the 28th percentile statewide, or 286th out of 396 Washington high schools, but its completion results are much stronger than its ranking suggests.

The school’s clearest strengths are graduation and student persistence. Its 2024–25 graduation rate was 92.8%, above both the district’s 86.6% and Washington’s 82.6%, while its dropout rate was 4.4%. English Language Arts is the strongest tested subject: 54.32% of students were proficient, slightly above the state and well above the district. Math remains a major concern, with only 22.62% proficiency, and science has declined sharply to 30.47% after reaching 54.23% in 2023–24. The recent ELA rebound is encouraging, but math and science should be priority areas for improvement.

Among nearby schools, Eastmont Senior High is the most comparable large-school peer. It has higher ELA and science results, but lower math proficiency, graduation, and dropout outcomes than Wenatchee. Much smaller Cashmere High School posts substantially stronger test scores, while Entiat Middle and High School also outperforms Wenatchee in math and science; these comparisons are affected by differences in size and student needs. Subgroup-effectiveness results are weakest for migrant, special education, and low-income students. Overall, Wenatchee appears better at helping students graduate than at producing strong assessment results, with equity-focused academic support and attention to rising class-size pressure as important next steps.
