Valley View Elementary is a K–5 school in Toppenish, Washington, serving 484 students in a high-need community within the Toppenish School District. About 91.12% of students qualified for free or reduced-price lunch in 2024–25. The school’s 2025–26 ranking was 1,006th of 1,138 Washington elementary schools, placing it in the 12th percentile. That is an improvement from the 5th percentile the year before, although the school remains below the statewide midpoint.

Mathematics is the clearest area of strength. In 2025–26, 26.61% of students were proficient in math, compared with 17.75% districtwide and 43.11% statewide. Math performance has climbed from 16.31% in 2023–24, and third grade was especially strong at 44.62%. Results were less consistent in fourth grade, where only 17.57% were proficient. English Language Arts proficiency was 23.85%, close to the district’s 26.02% but well below Washington’s 52.81%. Science proficiency was 26.58%, slightly above the district’s 24.23% but below the state’s 50.95%. ELA and science were slightly lower than the previous year, so the latest overall improvement appears to be driven mainly by math and relative ranking changes.

Within Toppenish, Valley View is currently stronger overall than Garfield Elementary School and Kirkwood Elementary School, while Lincoln Elementary School ranks somewhat higher and performs modestly better in each tested subject. Lincoln is the closest like-for-like comparison, while Zillah Intermediate School is a much higher-performing reference point, with 55.04% math proficiency versus Valley View’s 26.61%. However, Zillah serves grades 3–5 and has a lower rate of students qualifying for subsidized meals, making it an imperfect comparison. Valley View’s subgroup rankings have improved, particularly for English learners and students from low-income households, but most remain in lower statewide percentiles. Continued progress will likely depend on sustaining math gains, strengthening ELA, and addressing fourth-grade performance.
