Summary

Sequim Middle School is a public school serving 548 students in grades 6-8 within the highly-rated Sequim School District in Washington state.

The school has a mixed academic profile, with a particular strength in science where it outperforms the state average. In English Language Arts, it performs slightly above the state average but trails the district average. Math is an area for improvement, as the school's proficiency rates are below both district and state levels. Notably, the school has shown exceptional effectiveness in supporting its Hispanic student population. However, there is a significant and concerning decline in support for special education students, which is an area the school will need to address. Performance has fluctuated over the years, but recent data suggests an upward trend in its statewide ranking.

When compared to nearby middle schools, Sequim Middle operates with fewer resources per student and a higher student-to-teacher ratio than both Blue Heron Middle School and Stevens Middle School. Despite this, it performs competitively, often matching or exceeding their results in core subjects. This suggests the school uses its available resources effectively in several areas. The school serves a community with a moderate level of economic need, with about half of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Open Quote I have a sixth grader so our experience is fairly limited thus far. That being said, I find the teachers to be enthusiastic and genuine. The campus is nice. The fact that 48 of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches is not a plus, but it reflects the economy of the area and not just on the school.
Overall I think we are blessed to have such a great school in our area. Close Quote
