Summary

Magnolia Elementary School is a public K-5 school serving about 320 students in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood, operating within the highly-ranked Seattle School District No. 1 and consistently earning strong 4-star ratings.

Academically, the school performs well above state averages, with science being a standout strength, and it provides stable, consistent results year after year. However, it exists in a very competitive local landscape, surrounded by several of the highest-performing schools in the state, such as Catharine Blaine K-8 School and Frantz Coe Elementary School. While Magnolia is a high-quality school by any measure, it has the highest per-student spending in its immediate area yet produces slightly lower overall test scores than these neighboring schools, suggesting other local models may use resources more efficiently.

Interesting patterns include a particular strength in 3rd-grade math that seems to decline by 5th grade, a consistent performance gap between female and male students, and an outstanding science program that rivals even the top-ranked schools nearby. For parents, Magnolia Elementary represents a solid, reliable choice with a great science focus, though the exceptional performance of nearby K-8 schools like Catharine Blaine and Salmon Bay K-8 School may be worth considering for their strong middle-grade outcomes and different structure.
