Stillwater Elementary is a K–5 school in Carnation serving 491 students in the Riverview School District, a high-performing district in a community east of the Seattle metropolitan area. The district ranks 14th among Washington’s 238 districts, while Stillwater ranks in the 81st statewide percentile and has a four-star rating. Its statewide standing has improved from the 69th percentile in 2020–21, suggesting positive momentum.

Academically, Stillwater’s strongest areas are science and math. In 2025–26, 82.29% of students were proficient in science, 63.71% in math, and 62.93% in English language arts (ELA). Science was more than 31 percentage points above the state rate and nearly matched Cherry Valley Elementary School while exceeding Carnation Elementary School by 11.60 points. Math has also improved considerably, rising from 54.20% in 2022–23. Stillwater trails Cherry Valley and Carnation slightly in overall ELA and math, however, and ELA remains its clearest opportunity for growth. Grades 3 and 4 had lower results, pointing to an opportunity for earlier literacy and math support. Recent outcomes for Hispanic students improved substantially to the 75th percentile, while results for female, male, and White students were also strong. Stillwater’s lower recent comparative results for students receiving special education services and students from low-income households are areas to monitor. The school serves a more economically diverse population than most nearby Northshore and Lake Washington schools, making direct score comparisons imperfect. Excellent PTSA involvement! The student teacher ratio is low. We moved from Snoqualmie Ridge and both kids are doing so well at Stillwater. The music program has been great. Kids are offered onsite Y programs after school like robotics and art. We couldn't be happier. Close Quote
