Summary

Granite Falls Middle School is a public school serving 448 students in grades 6-8 in the Granite Falls School District, which is ranked in the bottom 20% of districts statewide.

The school faces significant academic challenges, with proficiency rates in English, Math, and Science all below state averages; 8th-grade math proficiency is particularly low at 15%, less than half the state average. While the school spends about $16,700 per student, this is less than many nearby schools like Lake Stevens Middle School or Totem Middle School. Performance varies notably by grade, with 7th graders performing close to the state average in English, while 6th and 8th graders fall behind.

Interesting comparisons show that the school is surrounded by higher-performing schools in other districts, such as North Lake Middle School (80th percentile) and Lake Stevens Middle School (81st percentile), which belong to top-ranked districts. Even Cedarcrest School in the Marysville School District, with a similar student population, achieves better results. This suggests that district-level factors and how resources are used, not just funding or location, play a key role in student outcomes.

Open Quote I am a teacher in another school district, but I must say Granite Falls Middle School deserves much more that a two star rating. Granted, State scores are low, however steff is working hard and I see better scores on the way. Other than scores, overall, it is a wonderful middle school. Close Quote
