Summary:
Lake Washington School District includes eight high-school-level schools serving about 10,003 students in the Lake Washington area. Most are traditional grades 9–12 high schools, while International Community School serves grades 6–12 and the Washington Network for Innovative Careers Skill Center and Emerson High School have specialized missions. The four large comprehensive schools—Eastlake High School, Redmond High School, Lake Washington High School, and Juanita High School—enroll most students and generally deliver strong results compared with Washington state.
Eastlake High School is the strongest current-performing large school, ranking sixth statewide and reporting 96.8% graduation, 1.5% dropout, 91.32% ELA, and 79.48% math proficiency. Redmond High School also performs well, although its recent ranking and test scores have declined modestly. Lake Washington High School is improving in ELA and math and moved up to 15th statewide, but math remains below the district average. Juanita High School ranks well statewide but trails the other comprehensive schools, especially in math, with 53.81% proficiency. Its recent ELA and science declines also merit attention.
For specialized academic programs, Nikola Tesla STEM High School and International Community School have exceptional historical rankings and achievement, though several of their newest results are suppressed and therefore unknown. Emerson High School has improved in ELA but remains a clear support priority because of its 65.2% graduation rate and 17.3% dropout rate; its small enrollment can also cause substantial year-to-year swings. The Skill Center does not provide comparable graduation or testing data. Overall, parents can expect a strong range of options, but should compare each school’s mission, enrollment model, current data availability, and areas of academic strength rather than relying on one ranking alone.
