Open Quote Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a fantastic school all around. The strong Catholic atmosphere is truly complimented by the outstanding and challenging academics. OLMC earned a Blue Ribbon for excellence in academics, which is an award given to only 4% of the best schools in the nation. The class sizes are small, so that students can receive the attention they need to achieve their personal best. The school is full of experienced, accredited and highly educated teachers who genuinely care about their students succeeding. The school is very fortunate to have Dominican Sisters supporting and teaching daily. Spanish, physical education, fine arts, library, music and computer classes are taught weekly for all children in PreK(3) through 8th grade. Daily religion classes, service projects and weekly Mass are all part of the education at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. OLMC is fully accredited school and actually has dual accreditations. OLMC is a nurturing atmosphere where each student is given individual attention and challenged to achieve their fullest potential. It’s no wonder Our Lady of Mount Carmel School was voted the best private school in Hampton Roads! Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
