Williamsburg Christian Academy

I am very upset with the education he received especially during his junior year. WCA represented itself as a provider of a quality college preparatory high school education with Christian values. I feel that WCA failed not only to meet the standard of education that they represented they would provide, but that they also failed to meet minimum educational standards. He had teachers who in some instances were unqualified in the subject they were teaching and in other instances either resigned mid-year or refused to teach. The academic environment got so bad that many students left and others simply stopped going to class. My son had to use youtube to learn what he was supposed to learn in class. Even with this effort he was unable to get college AP credit. To the best of my knowledge no student received a grade above a 3 on any AP exam that year. My son also had to take multiple SAT prep courses. All this in spite of a GPA well above 4.0.
My son suffered bullying from the son of one of the school administrators. This included physical abuse, degrading comments and destruction of property. This continued even after his parents and the school administration were made aware. It should also be noted that my son was not the only victim. One child was even choked in the dugout during a baseball game in front of the entire team. As for crimes committed by this child, it is my understanding that he vandalized a local store, The Brass Shop. It should be noted that although one of the children of the school administrator in question has graduated, she still has two other children at the school.
My son often had teachers who were not qualified in the subjects they were teaching. Additionally, my son complained, on numerous occasions, that teaches were sarcastic, verbally abusive or showed obvious favoritism. WCA has also used "Grace " as an excuse to give teaching jobs to people with personal issues such as drug abuse in their past.
The school leadership has changed since my son was a student there in 2014-2015, however, I saw four heads of high school during the three years we were there and it has changed again since we left. I would urge you to ask for teacher's credentials, background and length of tenure and get statistics on numbers of students who have left during the last several years before enrolling your child.
