This is a fantastic educational environment. We are so thrilled we chose ACDS for our son. The communications skills he is learning are invaluable. The math and science programs are very strong as well. It is a well-rounded environment.

We are ACDS parents, and could not be happier with our choice of school. ACDS has been wonderful both for our child and for us as a family. The school is academically challenging in a balanced environment with time for play, the arts, sports, and community service. We especially love the small, intimate classes that allow for meaningful individualized instruction. The teachers can really get to know the nuances of how each child learns, particularly in the early grades when academic habits are just forming. Above all, school is a joyful experience for our child! We chose ACDS because it focuses only on the K-8 grades, its down to earth culture, and balanced educational philosophy - a blend of progressive and traditional approaches. We have been so impressed by the administration (especially the head of school and lower/middle school division heads), teachers, students, and active parent community. There is a real sense of enthusiasm and fresh energy at the school - we highly recommend ACDS to any parent looking at independent schools in our area!

As I've written on other review sites, and am happy to repeat here -- my oldest daughter attended ACDS from 1st through 8th grade and just graduated. My other daughter will be in 7th grade this fall and has attended since kindergarten. My oldest was shy and timid when she started. She graduated a confident, intelligent young woman who is looking forward to the new challenges that high school will bring. The welcoming, safe environment provided by ACDS contributed significantly to her success and her growth. I was able to forge personal relationships with each of her teachers and the administrators and I was always confident that they had her best interests at heart in every decision they made. Their open door policy and willingness to talk through any issues - with parents AND students - was so refreshing. As she enters high school, I know she has the confidence and personal tools she'll need to advocate for herself.

My younger daughter is more outgoing. Similarly, the school has made wise choices for her academic and personal development. Two very different students - great atmosphere for both. Small class size, top-notch faculty and rigorous academic curriculum to boot. I really couldn't have asked for more.
