Pole Green Elementary is a PK–5 school in Mechanicsville, VA, serving 527 students in Hanover County Public Schools. The school has seen a noticeable change in its standing over the past several years: it ranked 12th among Virginia elementary schools in 2020–2021, but by 2025–2026 it had fallen to 410th out of 1,111 schools, placing it in the 63rd percentile.

Attendance is a clear strength—only 3.6% of students were chronically absent in 2024–2025, far below the state rate of 14.8% and about half the district rate. Math is also a consistent bright spot, with 3rd and 5th graders outpacing district averages in 2025–2026. However, the latest SOL results show a mixed picture. Nearby Pearson's Corner Elementary, Rural Point Elementary, and Cool Spring Elementary now rank ahead of it, while Mechanicsville Elementary and Cold Harbor Elementary remain behind. The declines are broad-based and also show up in subgroup outcomes, with the school's statewide percentile rankings dropping across nearly every group in the latest year. The most concerning change is for students with disabilities, whose ranking fell from the 86th percentile in 2022–2023 to the 25th percentile in 2025–2026.
