Given that Chesapeake's district average is strong, Crestwood's performance is best measured against a high local bar.

In math, Crestwood genuinely shines. Third-grade math proficiency sits at 83.09%, above both the district (80.32%) and state (74.04%), and fifth-grade math is an impressive 86.33% — nearly matching Cedar Road Elementary, one of the district's best schools, and far outpacing Truitt Intermediate (61.54%) and George W. Carver Intermediate (67.31%). The school also posts exceptionally strong results for Hispanic students, who rank at the 87th percentile statewide — a standout result worth recognizing. Science is another bright spot, with fifth-grade proficiency at 71.94%, well above nearby Truitt and Carver.

Reading is the clearest area for improvement. Crestwood trails the district in every grade, and fourth-grade reading (70.40%) falls below both the district (77.79%) and state (73.70%). Fourth-grade Virginia Studies is also a concern, coming in at just 51.24% versus a district average of 71.30% — a roughly 20-point gap that warrants investigation. Most urgent, though, is the disabled students subgroup, which ranks at the 11th percentile statewide, far below every other group at the school. With targeted attention to literacy and special education supports, Crestwood could build on its strong math and science foundations and move from the middle of the pack into a stronger position.
