Summary:

Zip code 84511 has three public schools serving grades PK–12 in the Blanding area: Blanding School for elementary students, Albert R. Lyman Middle for grades 6–8, and San Juan High for grades 5–12, all part of San Juan District.

Blanding School has the strongest recent momentum. Its ranking rose to the 45th percentile in 2025–2026, up substantially from the prior year, and it posted the area’s strongest individual result: 60.3% of fourth graders were proficient in mathematics. Fourth-grade science also reached 53.7%, while the school made notable gains in several math and science grades. Its main concerns are chronic absenteeism, at 28.6%, and weaker fifth-grade results. San Juan High has the strongest overall completion outcomes, with a 90.5% graduation rate and a 7.1% dropout rate. It also performed well in tenth-grade science and English Language Arts, but mathematics proficiency remained below the state level in both tested grades.

Albert R. Lyman Middle has the area’s best attendance, with chronic absenteeism of just 15.2%, well below both the district and state rates. Its science results are also encouraging, particularly eighth-grade science at 55.2%. However, it has the lowest current ranking, at the 27th percentile, and mathematics is a significant weakness, especially in sixth grade, where only 14.5% of students were proficient. Across all three schools, science is the strongest shared subject, while mathematics is the most consistent improvement priority. More than half of students at each school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and historical spending figures should be interpreted cautiously because they are from 2018–2019.
