Fillmore School

Fillmore School is a public elementary school in Fillmore, Utah, serving 483 students in prekindergarten through fourth grade as part of the Millard District. The school has a 20.5 student-teacher ratio, and 52.8% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. Its 2025–2026 statewide ranking was 240th of 563 schools, placing it at the 57th percentile with a three-star rating. The school has improved substantially since the mid-2010s, although its ranking has declined from the 81st percentile in 2023–2024.

Academic results vary noticeably by grade. In 2025–2026, fourth-grade students outperformed Utah averages in ELA, math, and science: proficiency was 57.5%, 56.4%, and 64.9%, respectively. Fourth-grade science is a particular strength. In contrast, third-grade proficiency was below state averages in both ELA and math, at 37.1% and 42.7%. These results suggest that strengthening the transition into third grade—especially reading and foundational math—should be a priority. Attendance is a relative strength: chronic absenteeism was 22.0% in 2024–2025, below Utah’s 23.8% rate, though higher than the Millard District rate of 13.7%.

Compared with nearby Pahvant School in Richfield, Fillmore School performed much better in fourth-grade ELA and science and slightly better in fourth-grade math. However, Pahvant School had stronger third-grade results. Ashman School and Pahvant School also had much higher chronic absenteeism rates—38.9% and 41.7%, compared with 22.0% at Fillmore School. Overall, the school’s strongest features are fourth-grade instruction, attendance, and effectiveness with low-income students, while recent third-grade declines deserve close attention.
