Summary

Wasatch School is a public elementary school in Clearfield, Utah, serving 482 students in prekindergarten through sixth grade in the Davis District. The school serves a relatively high-need community, with 57.68% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Wasatch ranks 507th of 563 Utah elementary schools, placing it at the 10th percentile and earning a one-star rating. This is an improvement over its 4th-percentile ranking the previous year, but it remains well below its stronger 2015–19 performance, when it generally ranked near or above the statewide midpoint.

Academic results are the school’s biggest concern. In 2025–26, Wasatch’s approximate proficiency averages were 28.8% in English language arts, 18.4% in math, and 28.3% in science, compared with district averages of about 49.3%, 48.2%, and 57.6%. Results generally weakened in the upper grades: sixth-grade proficiency was 18.3% in ELA and 14.3% in math. These outcomes are below most nearby schools, including Clinton School, Antelope School, and especially Cook School, which ranks at the 64th percentile. A major contrast is Syracuse Arts Academy - North, ranked at the 81st percentile with much higher test results.

There are some encouraging signs. Wasatch’s student-teacher ratio improved to 17.9:1, one of the better ratios among nearby schools, and chronic absenteeism declined from 39.3% in 2021–22 to 27.4% in 2024–25. However, absenteeism remains above the district’s 18.6% rate and the Utah average of 23.8%. The school’s higher level of economic need provides important context, but similar schools do not all produce the same results. For families, the key questions are whether attendance improvements continue and how the school is strengthening upper-grade reading, math instruction, academic interventions, and student support systems.
