Open Quote I used to love Paragon, I went there for 5th grade and thought Mr. Cash was great. This, however, is not a review for just the 5th grade. Let's start with 6th grade, for one thing they royally messed up on the science teacher, there used to be one science teacher 6th-8th. They decided to get a different one for just the sixth grade, let's just call her Ms. S, several students and parents complained about the curriculum and the attitude of Ms. S. Soon afterward they changed the curriculum, and not necessarily for the better, but they didn't attitude of the teacher. Flash forward one year and they have a new science teacher, not because they fired Ms. S, but because she left after not being allowed to teach math too, now the students have complained about the new teacher's bad attitude and condescending manner. The English teacher's curriculum takes a lot of time explaining the Jane Schaffer method, which is not helpful in the long run because, when students have fully learned the Schaffer paragraph or move on to a higher grade level, the Schaffer paragraph generally is not preferred any longer since using it hinders students from formulating their ideas to an extent and does not allow critical thinking. Paragon Prep recently decided to open a primary school (3-4), called Paragon Primary. Many parents have said that the textbooks that they use are public school textbooks used throughout Texas. The children also spend an entire class period, called Current Events, watching CNN. I don't know if it is just me but that seems a little excessive for 8 and 9 year olds, basically the whole primary school is a glorified public school. And finally, I'd just like to say that pretty much all the girls, especially 4th and 7th gossip like a bunch of high schoolers, not to mention quite a few of the younger ones are quite snobby. I hope you now know a little more about Paragon. A lot of it may be sucky, but 5th grade and Mr. Cash almost make up for it. Close Quote

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
