Summary

Scotsdale Elementary is a PK-5 school in the Ysleta Independent School District (Isd) serving 749 students in El Paso, TX, and it consistently ranks in the top 20% of Texas elementary schools despite serving a community where 67% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

This school truly shines in its support for all learners, especially those who need extra help. Scotsdale ranks in the 97th percentile statewide for its effectiveness with Special Education students—a standout achievement that far surpasses nearby schools like Vista Hills Elementary or Glen Cove Elementary. It also excels with Hispanic students (91st percentile) and students from low-income backgrounds (87th percentile), showing it successfully closes achievement gaps. Academically, Scotsdale outperforms both its district and the state in 3rd and 4th-grade reading and math. For example, 3rd-grade reading proficiency (69%) is well above the district (59%) and state (51%). However, a notable weakness is its Gifted and Talented program, which ranks in the 22nd percentile—suggesting the school may not provide enough challenge for its highest-achieving students.

An interesting pattern to watch is a recent dip in 5th-grade math, where Scotsdale (51%) underperformed the district (58%) in the latest year, a reversal from the prior year when it was a strength. Nearby schools offer contrasts: Cielo Vista Elementary (El Paso ISD) is a strong performer (86th percentile), while General Douglas MacArthur Pk-8 (El Paso ISD) is low-performing (25th percentile). Scotsdale’s per-student spending ($11,057) is efficient compared to Ramona Elementary Stem Academy ($12,987) with lower results, or Eastwood Knolls International ($9,610) with higher rankings. Overall, Scotsdale is a strong, stable choice for families seeking a school that excels at supporting diverse learners.

Open Quote This school will try and have you ARRESTED if you try and make them protect your child from abuse...Ask me how I know. Of course they FAILED but they are the worst of the worst and I wouldn't trust them to train an unruly canine let alone my child. The administration is a last stop from being fired and they act like it. The "safety officer" is just another corrupt wannabe security guard who couldn't hack it in the EPPD which is saying soooo much. It's no wonder that the El Paso school systems are bleeding students to the charter systems. If it were up to me I'd put my children ANYWHERE else! Close Quote
