Summary

Goshen Creek Elementary is a PK-4 school in the Springtown Independent School District (Isd), serving 674 students in a community where about 42% of students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Goshen Creek shows a clear split in academic performance: its 4th-grade math proficiency (57.32%) is the highest among nearby schools and well above the state average, but its 3rd-grade reading proficiency (37.59%) is the lowest in the area and significantly trails the state average. This pattern is consistent over recent years, with 4th graders outperforming 3rd graders in both subjects—a trend not seen at nearby Springtown Elementary. The school has also seen a dramatic decline in support for its Gifted and Talented students, dropping from a 100th percentile ranking in 2020-2021 to the 39th percentile in the most recent data. Additionally, performance for Hispanic and Special Education students has been persistently low, with rankings in the 21st-32nd percentile range over the last three years.

While Goshen Creek has a lower rate of economic disadvantage than its in-district rivals Springtown Elementary and Springtown Reno Elementary, its mixed results suggest other factors are at play. The school’s spending of $9,829 per student is middle-of-the-pack compared to high-performing neighbors like Peaster Elementary ($9,559) and Boyd Elementary ($9,243). Overall, Goshen Creek has declined from its pandemic-era peak (79th percentile in 2020-2021) back to its pre-pandemic level (51st percentile), while Boyd Elementary has improved significantly in the same period.

Open Quote Worst staff ever, they are very rude and disrespectful to the parents and if your kid has mental problems dont bother taking them here they do not handle this well or take care of the things they need to to get that child on the right track. Asked the principle over a month ago for an evaluation and it was just now done last week after i had to call and remind him. Close Quote
