Summary

Wiederstein Elementary in Cibolo, TX, is a PK-4 public school serving 564 students within the Schertz-Cibolo-U City Independent School District (Isd), a district ranked in the middle of the pack statewide.

Wiederstein has experienced a significant performance decline over the past several years, dropping from a top-tier school (81st percentile in 2016) to a below-average one (42nd percentile in 2026). This contrasts sharply with nearby Green Valley Elementary, which has shown a strong upward trend. The school also shows a clear academic split: 4th-grade Reading scores are above district and state averages, but 3rd-grade Math scores are significantly below both. This 26-percentage-point gap is the largest internal disparity among its closest district peers. Interestingly, the school spends more per student ($9,839) than higher-performing peers like Norma J Paschal Elementary and Green Valley, yet this higher spending has not translated into higher overall rankings.

On a positive note, Wiederstein has shown a remarkable turnaround in serving its most vulnerable populations. For Special Education students, the school jumped from the 21st percentile in 2024 to the 51st percentile in 2026, and for Low Socio-Economic Status students, it improved from the 18th to the 40th percentile. However, the school’s effectiveness with African American students has collapsed, dropping from the 67th percentile in 2024 to the 14th percentile in 2026. This represents a critical area of concern. The data paints a picture of a school in transition—one that was once excellent but has lost its way, though recent improvements for specific groups suggest a potential course correction is underway.
