Summary

Stone Oak Elementary is a high-performing public school in San Antonio, TX, serving 804 students in grades PK-5 within the North East Independent School District (Isd). This school has earned a 5-star rating for six consecutive years and consistently ranks in the top 5-7% of all Texas elementary schools, making it a standout choice for families seeking academic excellence.

What truly sets Stone Oak apart is its exceptional performance with all student groups, particularly in closing achievement gaps. In the 2024-2025 school year, Hispanic students ranked in the 99th percentile statewide, and students from low socio-economic backgrounds also achieved in the 99th percentile—a remarkable feat that far surpasses nearby schools like Wilderness Oak Elementary and Tuscany Heights. The school's bilingual program is equally impressive, with 5th graders taking the STAAR Spanish exam achieving over 93% proficiency in Reading and 91% in Math—dramatically higher than district and state averages. Additionally, 5th-grade Science scores (75% proficient) more than double the district average, outperforming most nearby schools.

Stone Oak also demonstrates remarkable efficiency, spending just $8,571 per student—the lowest among all nearby schools—while achieving top-tier results. This contrasts with schools like Las Lomas Elementary ($10,198 per student) and Huebner Elementary ($10,499). While the school excels overall, parents should note a dip in 4th-grade math proficiency (59% in 2025-2026) compared to 3rd and 5th grades, and a decline in Asian student performance from the 85th to 23rd percentile over two years. Still, with its Gifted and Talented program ranking in the top 1% of Texas schools and consistent top-tier state rankings (144th out of 4,651 in 2024-2025), Stone Oak remains a model of high performance and educational equity.

Open Quote While I completely believe that not every school fits each student the same, we moved from a higher ranked school to Stone Oak and could not be happier! ALL the staff from principal to librarian to admin assistant has been wonderful, they know our daughter and make the effort to tailor her experience at school the best it can be. This from a parent of an ADHD, sometimes challenging child! My mom, a 30 year retired teacher volunteers at the school and is also impressed which is a HUGE recommendation for me. While it has only been 1 year here, I have high hopes for the future and cannot stress enough how happy we are we moved here. Close Quote
