As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I use to think this was the best schools district around. Unfortunately as they have experienced rapid growth they have made little efforts to adjust. Many things are still handled with a very small town mentality with favoritism and decisions being made by staff and others in the community that simply do not have the academic or professional experience needed. Simple tasks like logistics and ensuring the safety of students have suffered. The quality of teachers has been overlooked while building impressive sport facilities have taken priority. I would like to see the seniority of teachers at the high school in the percentage with less than two years of teaching experience. Undertrained and inexperienced teachers are abundant in the high school and they teach honors courses in some cases. Having a school day shortened simply because there is not enough buses due to other events we sacrifice learning time due to poor planning. The lack of a properly executed or rehearsed drill to ensure students safety when severe weather occurs is another example of inadequate attention paid to logistical issues in a growing school. Favoritism shown to male athletes and coaches that have unlimited access to facilities paid for by tax dollars while female athletes and even female coaches are not given the same latitude. While there are still many positive things about Melissa High School many areas still need to adapt to a now 5A school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
