Summary

Marble Falls High School is a mid-sized public high school in Marble Falls, TX, serving 1,129 students in grades 9-12 as part of the Marble Falls Independent School District (Isd).

This school stands out for its exceptional graduation rate, consistently above 97% and higher than nearby schools like Lago Vista High School (94.7%) and Burnet High School (95.8%). However, this success in keeping students in school does not match academic proficiency on state tests. For example, only 16% of students are proficient in Algebra I, which is dramatically lower than the state average (54%) and even below Burnet High School (27%). The school also shows a notable contrast in how different groups of students perform. While African American students rank in the 90th percentile statewide—a remarkable achievement—Hispanic students and those from low-income backgrounds face significant challenges, ranking in the 17th and 22nd percentiles respectively. This pattern suggests the school is highly effective at supporting some students but needs to improve instruction for others.

Interestingly, the school spends more per student ($11,479) than higher-performing neighbors like Liberty Hill High School ($8,310) and has a favorable student-teacher ratio of 13.7, indicating smaller class sizes. This suggests the challenges are not simply about resources but may relate to instructional strategies or curriculum alignment. The school performs well for its Gifted and Talented students (61st percentile), showing it can achieve strong results for high-achieving learners. For parents, the key takeaway is that Marble Falls High School excels at ensuring students graduate, but families should investigate how the school supports academic readiness, particularly in math, and how it addresses the needs of all student groups.

Open Quote Horrible school, horrible experiences with the administration and teachers. The inmates are running the asylum there..seriously. The school board needs to clean house and quit believing their own press. It's seriously a terrible school. Close Quote
