Summary

Ada Mae Faubion Elementary is a PK-5 school in Cedar Park, TX, serving 353 students within the highly-rated Leander Independent School District (Isd).

Faubion Elementary has a low student-to-teacher ratio of 10.6:1, which is better than many nearby schools, but its academic performance has been a concern. The school has received a 2-star rating for the last three years, with math scores being a particular weakness. For example, only 25% of 3rd graders and 26.7% of 4th graders were proficient in math, which is roughly half the district average and far below top-performing neighbors like Deer Creek Elementary (71.4% and 77.1% proficient, respectively). Reading scores are also below average, though there is a bright spot: 5th-grade reading proficiency has been significantly higher (70.2%) than in 3rd and 4th grades, suggesting a possible effective intervention or teacher at that level. The school also has a higher percentage of economically disadvantaged students (35.1%) compared to nearby high-performing schools, which can present additional challenges.

Interestingly, Faubion’s per-student spending ($12,328) is higher than that of top-performing schools like Deer Creek Elementary ($9,046) and Rutledge Elementary ($8,939), indicating that lower performance is not due to a lack of financial resources. The closest school, Pauline Naumann Elementary, also performs below the district average but consistently outperforms Faubion, suggesting the challenges are not universal to the area. While the school has historically served its English Language Learner students well, recent data shows struggles with other subgroups, including White students and Gifted and Talented students, who rank in the bottom 20% statewide.

Open Quote my son attended faubion his first year of school. And needless to say he hated it!!!! He was also getting in trouble for the dumbest things and being sent to the office the teacher (mrs.griffin) even had him on a behavior chart. I requested he be moved out of her class and the principle and counselor did nothing. They felt they would work all together with him and hope things got better. The teacher even felt that my child could possible be ADHD and mind this is kindergarten so this school thing is all new to my son. The teacher to me concentrated on his behavior more than his learning. I finally moved him schools since there was nothing being done. When the teacher at the new school read his charts and everything she said are you sure this paper work belongs to your child cause I am not seeing this behavior at all. She too felt the teacher concentrated on behavior more than his learning so sadly to say my child's learning was behind :( Close Quote
