As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote We, like many, moved to the neighborhood for Hassler. Our daughter started kindergarten there, and the experience was mixed. Her teacher was young and her approach to discipline was inconsistent and caused the children undue stress. She repeatedly told children that little things weren't her job, and her contract wasn't renewed. My wife and I are both former educators, so we don't feel that the mediocre beginnings impacted our daughter in an irreparable fashion, and we held out hope for first grade.
She started this year in a class with only one student from her kindergarten class, no big deal though all of her friends seemed to be in one class together. She was bummed out, but by the third week she was talking about her new friends and getting comfortable with the new homework regimen and her teacher. Then, yesterday (Thursday, 9/17/2015) she and a number of other children were called out of PE, and marched to a new classroom in the 2nd grade hall. This, they were told , is their new class, and new teacher. Their stuff was waiting for them and everything. I understand that enrollments may be higher than expected and movement may be necessary, but the school made no effort to communicate the change to parents or students in advance, though the teachers knew about it on Monday and were asked on Wednesday if any students on the list were absolutely incompatible with change. Then, on Thursday, 20 5- and 6-year-old children were ambushed and taken away to a strange new class with a new teacher without a chance to talk about the upcoming change with their teacher or parents. I had to wait, worried, for 10 minutes longer than usual after school wondering why my daughter hadn't come out yet, only to see her walking dejectedly down the hall to the back door, crying inconsolably. It's clear that whoever made this decision is either a fool or an incompetent, as anyone who works with children, has a child or has been around children would know that this is not an acceptable way of introducing them to a fundamental and potentially traumatic change. There is nothing that an administrator from Hassler or Klein ISD can say or do that will make me forgive them for the manner in which this change was forced--no notice, no chance to prepare our children for the change, no explanation of how the children were chosen, and no discussion. Second grade elsewhere. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
