Summary

Sunset Valley Elementary in Fort Worth, TX, is a mid-sized school serving 592 students in grades PK-5 and is part of the highly-rated Keller Independent School District (Isd), which ranks in the top 25% of all Texas school districts.

Sunset Valley stands out as the highest-ranked school among its nearby competitors, consistently outperforming neighbors like Basswood Elementary, North Riverside Elementary, Parkview Elementary, and Heritage Elementary in overall state rankings. A key strength is mathematics, where 5th-grade and 4th-grade proficiency rates exceed both district and state averages—a notable contrast to nearby schools that often fall below state benchmarks. The school also excels with English Language Learner students, earning a 4-star rating for this subgroup. However, science is a clear area for improvement, with only 22.55% of 5th graders proficient in 2024-2025, below district and state averages. Additionally, while overall performance is solid, the school has shown inconsistent support for Asian students and Gifted and Talented students, both of whom have received lower ratings in recent years.

Despite these challenges, Sunset Valley is on a positive trajectory, improving its state ranking from the 58th percentile in 2019 to the 65th percentile in 2026, with a peak at the 72nd percentile in 2024. The school also has a lower rate of economic disadvantage compared to many nearby schools, which often correlates with higher test scores. For families considering options in the area, Sunset Valley offers a stable, improving choice with strong math and ELL programs, though it may not be the best fit for families prioritizing science or seeking advanced enrichment for high-achieving students.
